In The Beginning ....

 

Guglielmo Marconi

 

 

  • Guglielmo Marconi creates the first wireless communcation system called the "radiotelephone" at the turn of the 20th century.

    • System could only transmit via Morse Code

  • Marconi moved from land to sea with installation on steam powered truck in 1901.

  • In 1906, Reginald Fessenden develops system that permits first transmission of voice wirelessly

  • In 1920's wireless phones were used in police cars, but were only one way and used to relay messages to alert officers of crimes to attend to.

  • 1940's brought the first "true mobile telephones".

    • Subscriptions were pricey and networks were limited, but users were patient and worked toward using their phones during off peak hours.
