The Future is Now!
- By 2000, over 500 million people worldwide own wireless phones
- In 2001, the average customer used 320 minutes a month.
- In 2004, over 500 billion minutes were used in the first half of the year.
- At the end of 2007, over 298 million subscribers were accessing the newest wireless technology 3G
- Year 2000 introduces camera phones to Japanese customers with accessories such as various ringtones, and expanded memory for pictures, music, and other files.
- Many of today's phones are so advanced that they include Microsoft operating system.
- Several worries over wireless phones have emerged
- Radiation emissions that exceed Federal limits
- Safety concerns over people using phones and text messaging while driving.
- Distractions of phone use in classrooms
